Last weekend three surf boat crews travelled to Mooloolaba to compete in round two of the Queensland Navy Series.  Again, it was an awesome day with great weather, accommodating surf conditions and a well run event.

In the A women’s division, Terani Inoke, Bec Newton, Maddy Ruygrok, Jen Meister & Tony Benfield (sweep) had 3 heats and a semi final.  The girls rowed well in their first heat to finish a close second to the eventual finals winning crew from Northcliffe.  However in their next two heats and their semi final they just couldn’t maintain their form and finished the day in the knowledge that they could have done better.

In the Reserve grade women’s division Gabi Leann, Gill Flemming, Carolyn Smith, Tileah McGowan & Colin Martin (sweep) had three solid races against some high class opposition and missed the cut for their semi.  Sadly, this was Carolyn Smith’s last carnival with the girls.  Family commitments and a hectic work & training schedule meant that she had to make the decision to put those factors before rowing.  Thanks for your company Carolyn.

In the +200 Master’s, Richard Finney, Julius Czerney, Jason Smith, John McCarthy & Brett Beutel (sweep) rowed well in their 3 heats.  They boys rowed well recording a victory in their second race.  Unfortunately i cannot give the final result on their placings as they are yet to be confirmed.

On Saturday 1 December, crews will travel to Minnie Water Beach for round 3 of the north coast surf boat series.

Good luck to all crews.
